Resolutions for 2013

I’ve been starting to see other bloggers post about their upcoming resolutions for the new year and it’s gotten me thinking about what I want to do. Last year, there were a few resolutions that I didn’t complete that I really hope to achieve next year (though I did complete the most important one: paying off my debt). So, here we go:

1. Get in shape!
I’m sure this one is going to be on many people’s lists as well, but this is one that was on my list last year and though I did exercise very consistently all year, I didn’t lose any weight, and in fact gained about 10 pounds. I’d love to get down to my ideal weight by losing 25 pounds, but even 20 would be amazing.

How am I going to do this? Well, I’ve signed up for a Fitmixer Boot Camp which starts in January which will hopefully help me get some nice muscle tone going. But if there’s one thing I learned, especially in this past year, it’s that exercise isn’t going to make me lose weight, even if it is technically getting me in better shape. Food is the key. I need to put together a plan to eat more whole foods, less processed foods, and overall, eat a whole lot less than I currently do. I’m sure I’ll be posting more about this plan as I figure it out.

2. Move up at work
It looks like there’s a possibility for me to get a promotion within the next few months at the office so I’m going to work hard and try to make it happen!

3. Grow the blog
2012 was the year I bought my domain and actually started trying to make something with this blog. I feel like it’s already come a long way, but I want 2013 to be the year that it gets even bigger! I’d love to have more readers and I’ll be working on making this happen too.

4. Cook more new meals
This was another one on the agenda for this past year. I did well for the first half of the year, then the second half was kind of a bust. I want to get more creative in the kitchen, coming up with more new recipes of my own, as well as trying a whole lot of new recipes from all the cookbooks I have.

5. Buy a house
This is a big one. A HUGE one actually. I know there’s a chance it might not happen, but I want 2013 to be the year that I become a home owner. With my debt paid off, I’m now able to think about doing this and I’m really ready to stop renting.

6. Make more time for friends and family
This one is self explanatory. I get so caught up in all the to-dos in a given week that it can seem really difficult to find time to see my friends or visit family members. I want this to change!

Well, that’s a pretty good list for the time being. I may add to it over the next week or two as more things come to me.

    it’s only a $2 buy in and it’s sort of a mini support community.

    Hope the house thing happens for you! We still have a few more steps to take before that happens.
