We had the coldest week yet this winter this past week, and that followed the first significant snowfall of the year. What does that equal? Lots and lots of snow, covered with ice and a very unhappy walking commuter (aka me). My whole walk to work was iced over and I was convinced I was going to slip, fall, and break a bone every day. Thankfully, I didn’t, but I’m a little apprehensive about the rest of the season.
Waking up on Thursday morning, my phone told me that it was 7 degrees with a wind chill of -4 (Fahrenheit)… ouch!
Before I write anything else, I want to send a big thank you out to Erika from Newlyweds on a Budget for hosting me as a guest poster yesterday. If you want to read about how I paid off $95,000 in student loans, click on over!
The first week of the new year is off to a roaring start, and I’m already feeling pretty good about my resolutions. If you recall, I set out to do specific things in January to get me started, and so far so good. I’ve been tracking my calories every day since the year started and cutting way back on sweets and treats. I’ve already seen a difference on the scale, which I’m hoping isn’t a fluke.
I think I’m going to bring back the Saturday weekly weigh in that I started a long time ago on my old blog. So, on that note, here are my stats:
Starting weight on 12/30: 162
Difference: 3.4 pounds
Weight left to lose for the Diet Bet (by the end of Jan): 3.1
Weight left to lose to reach my ultimate goal: 23.6
It feels like a long way to go, but I haven’t seen such significant results on the scale in such a short time in a very very long time. I know my starting weight was a little high because it was immediately after Christmas and I had probably gained a few pounds just for that reason. Also of note, that weight on 12/30 is the most I have ever weighed in my life, which is pretty scary. That’s one of the reasons I’m so determined to make a change!
How was the first week of the year for you?
