Gambling Girl

Back in January, one of the things I did to motivate myself to stick to my weight loss goals was to join a Diet Bet I had seen floating around on some of the blogs I read. I came oh so close to winning (I was only off by 1.7 pounds!), but the whole experience really made me look at what I was choosing to eat every day and helped me make better decisions about my health.

February, there was a chance to join another, but I thought it would be a good idea to take a month off (especially since I was just starting in on bootcamp), and then see if I wanted to try again in March. Well, March is here and I find myself once again needing an extra boost to keep me on track! I joined a much bigger one this time around and I’m super excited to try to lose the 6.5 pounds I need to meet my goal this month.

If you want to get in on the action, click here and sign up for the Diet Bet. It’s a great way to keep up your motivation and stick to your goals. There’s a lot of people in this game, so I imagine the sense of community will be even greater than usual!

Of course, the main reason I join these things is for the extra push I need, but the possibility of winning a few dollars is pretty awesome too!

This upcoming week promises to be pretty busy and hectic, but what week isn’t? I had a 4 day weekend so I’m hoping that I can jump back in to work tomorrow with a new attitude and energy. We’re making a big dinner tonight that will give us leftovers for several more days. I love having meals like that – no need to worry about dinner until mid-week!

Have you ever joined a diet bet? How did it go?

  1. I think these types of challenges are fantastic for motivation!
A group of co workers i usd to work with had a weight loss challenge and everyone was so supportive of each other and always checking in and pushing each other towards eating healthy and exercising. It’s a great thing!

    GOOD LUCK this month!!

I have never joined a diet bet, but I might just have to take a look. I’m severely lacking in motivation. Good luck to you! I hope you win! 🙂

P.S. Thanks for linking up to the GtKY blog hop this week. 🙂

  3. I did the South Beach Diet a few years ago and it was a huge success. I lost 8 lbs in the first two weeks, which is what they promise. You cut out sugar and carbs – completely. I never thought I could do it, but I went on to do an extra week. I lost a total of 22 pounds and then I gained it all back. The thing that helped was that my husband, his sister, her husband, their father, his brother and his brother’s wife all did the diet. Oh, and my BIL’s parents. It was like we were running our own little diet cult. But doing it on my own the second time around was a bitch. I never want to see another omelet as long as I live.

  4. I have never joined a diet bet. I’ve heard of them though… I did weight watchers last year to lose about 20 pounds that I should have lost about 3-4 years ago… I still have about 15 pounds to go. I stopped doing weight watchers in September 2012 and now I just eat a diet of 50-75% fruits and veggies and run a lot more to continue on my weight loss/fitness journey.
