A Low Key Weekend

by Lisa on Saturday: Jul 18, 2015

What was looking to be a super busy weekend has now evolved into a low key/relaxing weekend. A friend was supposed to be visiting from out of town, staying over Saturday into Sunday. However, due to illness, the trip was cancelled.

Even though it’s disappointing not to be able to see my friend, in a lot of ways a low key weekend was exactly what was needed. Yesterday, I was able to work from home for the day, and I spent my lunch break scrubbing down the bathrooms in the house. They needed it BADLY, but there’s nothing that motivates me to clean more than impending guests (this was before the plans were cancelled, not that I’m the least big upset to have nice clean bathrooms now though!).

We got some takeout for dinner – I got a veggie sub and a side salad and D got a steak sub – and then we drank some wine and watched season 7 of the Simpsons.

Today, D is not feeling well either, so he’s camped out in the living room marathoning a TV show, and I’m doing some blog work and reading. On the reading list today is “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” and “Dragonfly: NASA and the Crisis Aboard MIR” (side note: I am a space nerd).

Work and life in general have been a little stressful and crazy lately, so I’m hoping this weekend will recharge us for another busy week ahead. Tomorrow will also be full of food prep and planning, as usual on a Sunday.

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. I ran a 10k last weekend and did lots of cleaning around the house! I’ve been exhausted lately and not doing much beyond watching tv on the couch. We are having weird weather here so I think that’s part of it.
