Our Adventures in Disney

As I mentioned in my last post, D and I just got back from Disney World, and we had an amazing time.  The thing that always brings us back to Disney is just the pure magic of the experience.  They do such a good job there of immersing you in another world, between the music, the atmosphere and the decorations.

We began our trip bright and early on Saturday the 5th to get to the airport. My dad is always nice enough to drive us to the airport on our travel days. We were in line for security by 8AM and touching down in Florda by 12:30.  The week leading up to the trip was stressful, and as always, the morning of travel is never very fun, but once you get to Florida, everything just seems easier and happier. This vacation came at just the right time for both of us. The year has been hectic!

We always start our day 1 at Disney at Magic Kingdom. I just couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. There’s nothing that says “You’re in Disney” more than seeing the castle and visiting Tomorrowland (my favorite).  We did a few rides, met a few characters and by the time we settled in for dinner, all the stresses of real life had melted away.

We had some great meal while we were there:

Via Napoli at the Italy Pavilion at Epcot

Via Napoli - White Lasagna

The Rose and Crown at the UK Pavilion at Epcot

Rose and Crown - Vegetable Cottage Pie

Tony’s Town Square Tavern in Magic Kingdom

Tony's Town Square - Pasta Primavera

Mama Melrose in Hollywood Studios

Mama Melrose - appetizer

Mama Melrose - penne vodka

Tokyo Dining at the Japan Pavilion at Epcot

Epcot - Japan

And we even met up with a few friends at Downtown Disney during our last night of the trip.

This year, our two favorite rides had to be Soarin’

Soarin

and Test Track.

Test Track

It was our first time doing both, and the anticipation was worth it.  Both typically have very long lines and high-demand fast passes. We will definitely be doing both again when we go back!

It did rain for several days at the beginning of the trip, but luckily I came prepared with my travel umbrella, D’s hoodie and a jacket for myself.  The rain tapered off after Monday, but the heat and humidity were a KILLER.  Despite thorough sunscreening, I did get a small sunburn one day, but it was nothing terrible. We did get to see some really cool thunder storms while we were there too.

The week went by extremely fast and we will definitely be back in the next year or two.

  1. I LOVE Disney World! I’m kind of obsessed. I went for the first time 3 years ago and I’ve been lucky enough to have gone back 3 times since. I even went for my honeymoon last year and it was probably the best thing we could have done. It was really special. Glad you had fun, it’s never long enough 🙁

  2. I totally agree that Disney does a great job of transporting you to another world. It really is magical! I always miss out on all these great food options everyone else seems to get haha I clearly am not doing Disney right! Yum.

  3. Looks like a great trip! Its been awhile since I have been to Disney and Id love to go back. All the food looks delicious!
