I haven’t done one of these “Workout Week in Review” style posts in a while, which is mainly because I hadn’t been working out consistently in December and through the holidays. However, this week was an entirely different story, and I’m determined to keep up the streak now.

The main theme of the week was dance cardio, which kept things fun and kept me wanting to come back for more. I did mix in a few other things here and there. Here’s how things went.

Workouts

Monday
The week kicked off with a 6:30 AM wake up call, purposely scheduled for a workout. I woke up motivated to kick off the week on the right foot, and I did 40 minutes of cardio.

Tuesday
I somehow was able to wake up at 6:30 AM twice in a row! Needless to say, I’m not a morning person, so anytime I successfully get myself out of bed at this hour is a victory. Workout: another 40 minutes of cardio.

Wednesday
I knew my schedule was going to be a bit different on Wednesday, so I didn’t have to get up early and instead worked out during lunch. This time I did another 40 minutes followed by an upper body workout. I focused on free weights, bicep and tricep curls, as well as some overhead raises.

Thursday
I was hoping to get in a workout, but this day kind of went off the rails. Rest Day.

Friday
Like Wednesday, I had a different pattern to my day and fit in my workout during lunch. 42 minute of cardio, followed by the same upper body workout as Wednesday. I also added in a few sets of squats.

Weekend
No workouts planned for the weekend. If one happens, I will consider it a bonus!

What kind of workouts did you do this week?

What are your thoughts on dance cardio?

  1. Do you follow a specific video for your dance cardio?

This week I ran, did P90X3 workouts that focused on weights or abs, and I did yoga every day (Yoga with Adriene is awesome!).

Nice job on your workouts! For dance cardio, I alternate between some Zumba DVDs I have, and a bunch of dance-oriented Wii games, which are a great, fun workout to do.

  2. Taylor says:

I did 4 body pump classes and a couple runs on the treadmill!

  3. My workouts were less the stellar since I was a little under the weather. Here’s hoping for a better week coming up! 🙂

  4. It was the usual running and yoga for me this week. Nice work with the early wake up times – I am SUCH a terrible morning person, I never work out early.

It can be a real struggle to wake up early. I need to get better about it!

  5. Nice week of work outs! I have not tried any dance cardio but I’ve heard great things and it’s definitely different than running so good cross training I’m sure 😉

    • Lisa says:

You’re right – it can be great cross training, plus it’s a fun workout that I look forward to!

  6. Congrats on an awesome week of workouts! I’m not a morning person either, so I always feel so accomplished when I actually get up before work to exercise. : )

Just a few runs for me over the past week. I’m gearing up to start my marathon training plan in about a week. I LOVE dance cardio!! If you have any recommendations, please share them!

Thanks! Good luck with the beginning of your marathon training! For dance cardio, a great staple for me is Zumba. I have a bunch of the DVDs, and they even make Wii games that are just as intense as the DVD workouts themselves.
