Workout Week in Review 1/25 – 1/31

It’s the last week in January, and it’s time to look back on my week of workouts! I got in 4 solid workout this week, which was one less than I was originally planning, but overall I’m very happy with my efforts.

Much like last week, Monday kicked off on a good note with a successful 6:30AM wakeup call. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by my determination over the past few weeks to start Monday this way, and I hope the trend continues. I completed a fast-paced 40 minutes of cardio.

Tuesday marked the return of TurboFire, a workout I love to throw on when I need something to kick my butt and leave me a sweaty mess. I always feel like I’ve worked hard when one of these DVDs is over and they never get boring.


Wednesday was another 40 minutes of dance cardio.

Thursday – Off

I was thisclose to not doing any type of workout on Friday, but at the very last minute, I decided to go for some more cardio and got in a quick 25 minutes. Much better than nothing at all.

As for the weekend, I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to fit in another workout session. If I do, I will consider it a bonus and will also try to make it something strength-based.

Next week I will definitely be bringing more strength workouts into the mix, but you can bet my dance cardio isn’t going anywhere.

  1. I love starting Monday morning with a workout too! Even if the rest of the week is crap at least you did that 🙂

      I agree – it feels like a big accomplishment and it gives you a boost for the rest of the day!

  2. I can’t get motivated to follow dvds, plus my kids would probably get in the way of them. However, I do love working out at home just as much as being at the gym.

      I can imagine it would be hard to do a DVD workout with kids around. For myself, I prefer to be alone when I’m doing one so I can totally concentrate on the workout at hand.

  3. What kind of dance cardio do you do? I prefer working at the gym. It’s so much easier for me to be lazy at home.

      I love to do Zumba, plus I have a few dance-based workout games for the Wii that really work up a sweat.

  4. I love working out first thing on Monday morning too! It sets the right tone for the entire week. Also – congrats on not skipping your workout Friday! It always feels like such a personal triumph when I choose to do something active rather than skipping a workout altogether, especially late in the day when I really want to park my tush on the couch.

    My favorite at-home DVDs are definitely from the P90X series (well, actually it’s more of a love/hate relationship). I don’t enjoy doing them, but I love the results I get.

    There are definitely pros/cons to going to a gym and working out at home. I used to love going to the gym, but now that I know I can get just as good of a workout at home, I prefer to save the money on a membership. I do miss the group fitness classes at my old gym though!

      I’ve been meaning to try the P90X series for years. Maybe I’ll finally give it a try soon, now that I’m really trying to get in shape! I had the same sort of love hate relationship with the 21 Day Fix. I hated it while I was doing it, but it really did make a difference!
